FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does this process work?
We will create a customized project (original character, poster, comic and/or action figure) for you for whatever purpose you wish (i.e. gift for yourself or a friend or a promotional item for your business/brand).
Simply pick out your items (detailed descriptions are on our “Pricing” page). Fill out the order form. Upload any references that you may have (pictures for design references or word documents for design/story element references) and purchase your project. We will contact you within 24 hours via email for any additional information needed for your project. We will then begin to work on your project immediately.
For Comics: Our writing team and editorial staff will begin to develop a story for your character/project implanting him/her in our comic universe (which we refer to as the LCU /or “Legacy Code Universe”) while our design team creates the visual for your character/project. You may submit information that you wish to have included as story elements for your character however some of those items may be omitted in the interest of integrating your character into our universe in a manner that will tell the best story. Unless a custom Logo is purchased your story will be created as an issue with the title of “Legacy Code: Chronicles (with a possible subtitle)”.
What information do you need from me?
Only the information listed on the order form and the reference materials you provide. We will contact you for additional information such as additional photos or story elements that we need clarity on.
Can I have my friends in my comic with me?
Any additional character that has to be designed beyond any character that you purchase a design from us for or supporting cast members from our universe that we provide for the story will require the client to pay for a character design.
How many frames will fit on a page?
There is not a limit on how many frames can appear on a page. We will make the necessary adjustments and incorporate the accurate amount of frames to tell the best story possible.
How long will this take?
Review the “Pricing” Page as all turnaround times are listed there. In the event that the turnaround time will take longer than the time listed we will contact you and provide you adequate notification. Our turnaround times are not guarantees for delivery times as each of these projects are 100% customized to please the client as well as to integrate the featured character within our universe. Rush orders will incur additional charges. Use our contact form to request rush order quotes.
What if I want a printed book?
All comic orders include a physical mini comic (about 8.5” x 5.5” in size) shipped via standard mail [United States customers only]. Contact us for standard sized comics and we will send you a quote as we use multiple printers who give us various discounts in order to get you the best price.
What if I want a poster printed?
Unfortunately we do not print posters at this time.
Who owns the rights to any characters that you create for my project?
Short Fuse Media Group, LLC. reserves and retains all intellectual property rights, trademarks and copyrights associated with any character or logo that we design. Each custom project is sold with limited licenses granted to the purchasing client. The client’s purchase in the matter is specifically for the labor portion of service involved in creating the project. If a client wishes to purchase exclusive rights or ownership a separate agreement has to be made between the client and Short Fuse Media Group, LLC.
For original character designs, posters, and comic books purchased from Short Fuse Media Group, LLC. the client is granted a non-exclusive license to reproduce the design in the original format that it was received, post/publish the design online for public viewing on any website that the client chooses as well as manufacture, sell and distribute copies of the design in its original form. None of these rights can be transferred to any other entity beyond the original purchasing client.
How will my character be used after my order is completed?
Your character could possibly live on beyond your custom project in various forms ranging from a supporting character in another custom comic to being published as a supporting or quite possibly a leading character in one of our series. As a courtesy we will automatically send you (via the contact information that we have on file for you) a copy (digital or print) of any appearances (comics or posters only) of your character following your order so that you can add it to your custom collection. However you will not be granted any rights for this appearance of your character.
What if I design my own character and submit him/her for a [COMIC] project?
This type of project must be communicated prior to work beginning as there are many variables that can factor into this equation. We recommend contacting us via the contact form and submitting your request including the items that you wish to have created. We will contact you to gather the information we need to make a decision as to whether or not we will be able to complete your project. We will definitely attempt to accommodate each and every request that we receive for projects, but we reserve the right to decline accepting any project.
Do I get to approve each stage of the process?
Unfortunately no. We will ensure that as many of the reference elements you provide are included in the project. We may randomly send you correspondences/updates [though this is not required or guaranteed] regarding parts of your project (i.e. character designs, page layouts and logos when applicable) and ask for feedback, however as we will be on a deadline we will not wait to hear back from you for more than 24 hours before proceeding to the next step. We will ensure your project is of the highest quality as this will also be a part of our universe. In the event that exclusive rights are being purchased for a character design/comic project, the client will approve every stage of the process. “Exclusive Rights” projects must be quoted as they incur different pricing then that of our listed projects.
Will there be any discounts offered?
We run promotional advertisements at all times for our services. To ensure that you are notified of these promotions we recommend that you frequently check our website and follow us on all of our various social media outlets. Projects that exceed what is offered on our website should be quoted by us for the best possible pricing.
